UBBDev/UBBWiki Merge

When we first started UBBWiki in 2011 we didn't own the UBBDev domain, it wasn't until January 2015 that Allen gifted the site to the existing development community that we started to upgrade things from ancient PHP4 code. As it's a lot of overhead to manage the two sites, and has never been a profitable avenue, I've decided to merge the UBBWiki Project content with UBBDev on one hosted site as of July 25, 2023.

The Content Management System should operate exactly as it had before on UBBWiki…

You'll be seeing a lot more updates relating to UBB.threads in the coming months, but this one is for the site code on The UBB.Wiki Project's core coding. We've finally rolled out the site updates to all of the core systems to allow for better SEO and overall site functionality. Additionally, we're now using CSS for the site gradients versus using images for them, which should speed up rendering times.

Next, however, a good portion of the existing entries will need to be spruced up to take a…

Adjustments and New Code!

We've been redeveloping a lot of the CMS code here at Wiki in the last month or so; we wanted to make it easier for us to provide more content rich articles (basically making it easier to put photos in entries) and figured that since we where working on SSL support within UBB.threads that we should make sure the CMS code here can support it as well to reap the same benefits, which you'll learn more about in the coming months (teaser much?).

We've done a ton of work since we chose to stop util…

UBB.Wiki New Systems

As of October 5th, 2014 we've migrated away from utilizing MediaWiki for the UBB.Wiki Project and are now using a custom solution.

The main reason for this change where all of the constant bugs and walls we've hit while managing items in MediaWiki, especially with the upgrade script, which made running a secure and "up to date" version nearly impossible.

You'll likely notice that the system itself matches the VNC Web Services UI and Systems (which themselves exist for several oth…
