Yes, a LOT of web hosts are offering PHP and MySQL, but not "most".
My webhost is one of the top web hosts on the net, and has been for a few years (
www.web2010.com). They only offer PHP and MySQL for the Premiere Hosting package. The two lower ones don't have it available.
My friend's host (AWC) who he has been with for almost 5 years, doesn't offer either, at all.
A new survey just published, showing Apache modules installed, shows that mod_php is installed in about 36% of the machines surveyed. mod_perl (which is different than Perl... Perl itself *is* installed on practically every server...) is running at 11.5%, which is a shame that it's that low, but has been starting to gain some ground lately.
