where there's the little triangle? I think you know what I'm trying to do, but why is there the white space between the blue above the triangle and the triangle itself?

You'll see that that white space isn't there in the image.

EDIT 2:
Nevermind, I did it with DIV's... but if you can find out how to do it with tables, that'd be great.
