no, its acrually a damn good idea, there are many clock scripts, some with many more features, if you wanted to use a better one, you would simply go to the Cp and replace it instead of rehacking the files. and if it gets annoyying you can easily remove the wordlet without having to hack it out.
BTW, great hack, i was actually going to do this but wasnt sure how.
