If infopop would agree to add a public data file (maintained & updated Only by themselves), we could write / modify many different scripts that could do the job of Lic verification. Shoot, the internet if full of text file verification scripts. If they truely want to stop the "Piracy" then they need to employ some sort of self governing system to allow ligit UBB Lic owners to help verify UBB's. It would be "Impossible" for Infopop to police this themselves, therefor; We need to "help" them if they are to succeed in the reduction / elimination of pirated UBB's. Thay already have the file / script, we use it all the time to get new downloads from their site.
The information displayed doesn't have to be extensive, something like:
Lic To -> Host Name:
www.lala_land.com Effective Date: xx/xx/xxxx
Exp Date: xx/xx/xxxx
Disposition: Current / Expired / In transition.
The UBB Lic agreement clearly states, that one must have a (Purchased !!) Lic copy for each board running. That makes verification easy. The hard part is "Finding" the pirated UBB's behind the maze of security systems and firewalls.
That's my 0.02 cents, for what it's worth.
