If no one isn't working on your Avatar List idea, I'll do the job... just tell me what kind of a list? A drop down list (combo box) with a javascript that shows the selected avatar in a box next to it (think I've seen that somewhere)? Or maybe just a combo box which lists the available avatars and you rename every of them to have some descriptive names?
