OK... I have a fairly large site 18,000 register members 200,000 posts ( most were purged while board was under old mgt) and it is common to have about 80 members/visitors on the boards.
I was going to use Zlib compression to cut my bandwidth, but I noticed on several threads that it increases server overhead... so I left it off.
Last night I turned Zlib compression on just for kicks, and today the boards seems to be MUCH faster in load times. I asked about four mods and they agree that the speed is up and I running with about 60 total on-line.
Any input on this? I thought Zlib was only reducing bandwidth... or is it faster becasue there is less transfer, therefore quicker (relative to the speed of the internet connection).
