Does Threads not handle the new versions of MySQL? (4.x)

If not I apolgize, but we are getting tired of the crappy unfriendly setup of the message 'ware, and we are actively talking to folks who are beta'ing the newest VBB 3.0 that's coming out and I'm not kidding when I say we might change in the next MONTH.
