Let me recomend you at least download and install phpMyAdmin. It can sit in the docroot directory in a folder you create where the rest of your html's are so you really don't need special permissions on the box minus the permissioning you need for MYSQL..
it's easy to use and much more robust then just relying on the Admin Menu of Threads..
