Just curious , how many posts are in your test forum ?
I have 300,000+ posts , and each search takes more than 1 min , and will probably cause serious table lock and server load ...
I am using 6.4.2
I have to remove search page and form , even registered users cannot search.
It is a serious problem ... ... ...

Why not use MySQL's FULLTEXT instead of SQL LIKE ?
