You say that you set your cookies as root.
What happens if (as I have) the UBB option is set to use local scope cookies (cgi-bin)?
Is your code going to make the cookies situation worse in this case?
You should document that as a requirement for your hack, if it is true that UBB cookie scope must be set to broad (root) with this hack.
I should add that if I use this hack, it will be as NON-SSI, since my site gets around 80,000 hits per day.
To my thinking, a medium UBB site would be around 1 million hits a month, not 100,000 as you suggest.
