Do you remember it, the old ubb5 with it's Carnell Utilities for quick moving hundreds of threads into another forum ?
I'm just at updating my old forums and I want to join some of them, but what should I do ? Would I play the dumb guy and rename each threadfile so it maches with the threadfiles from the other forum ? not, for sure.

This is what I did:

go here and download this flash file renamer, it's freeware laugh

ok let's play it with this situation:
forum1 has 500 topics, forum2 has 200. you wanna join them but don't want to rename 200 files, so just go like this:

download forum2 from your noncgi, delete everything but the topic data (such as 000001.cgi, 000002.cgi, ..., 000200.cgi), right click on the forum2 folder and choose "start flash renamer".

inside choose option "enum" with following info:

sequential renaming,
format = .
start value: 501 (in this case)
step: 1
sort method: no sort
zero padding: 6

that's it ! check the option "simulation mode" in the upper corner and then test what it outputs.

If everything is alright uncheck the simulation option and execute.

now upload your new data (now the files in forum2 directory on you harddisk start at number 000501.cgi in this case) into forum1 in noncgi. then chmod the new uploaded files to 666 and rebuild forum stats.

your done. laugh

I posted this because I thought someone will need this, for me it saved hours of ugly work...

If you have any questions, you know, same procedure as every time wink
