With the assistance of one of my admins (Shatzy) I think we have a good over view of Hostboard unlike any view ever given. My only comments to her was to find 3 threads that followed the criteria set forth here and in her own words this was her reply:
"I decided to pretend I was talking to someone
that had never seen hostboard... and was unsure
of what hostboard actually was (asside from
being a message board provider).
I wanted to literally explain what hostboard
was all about... and personally, I don't think
you can accomplish this by just giving a few
threads.
I composed a short 'report' of sorts... and selected threads based on certain criteria (not necessarily which threads I think are the absolute BEST of the BEST).
The criteria is as follows:
1. Threads that matched the following order
2. Threads in which admin. did not post
(because I felt that if I were to be requesting
sponsorship, i'd think it best not to display
threads, for example, that I have posted in.
to me, its bad form.)
3. Threads that either supported the (full)language barrier... or that contained no harsh language at all
4. Threads from boards that have been somewhat
established on hostboard.... essentially,
no new boards... and no recent threads (to
prevent the possibility of future foul language
to the thread posted)
5. No two threads from the same board/category
(I figured this would allow for diversity)
What is Hostboard all about?
3 C's..... Confidants, Colleagues, and Community.
The first C --
Confidants -- deals with boards that are mainly established for friends to come together and share/relate stories and experiences to each other. These boards are full of emotion and strength, as well as offer
great support by way of a person-to-person communique. This type of board rallies around the idea of friendship associations.
A wonderful thread about friendship from DEMONS & HELLFIRE A thread about human differences and expectations from STRANGER THAN PARADISE The second C --
Colleagues -- centers around the idea that those of like-minds
can come together and share/relate information on a more commerical and/or buisness type of board. Basic Q & A threads as well as helpful hints in your study or interest can be found on such boards. Generally, this type of board is
structured around a particular theme with the intent of bringing together individuals
familiar with the field. These boards offer great insight and helpful advice, from
novice to expert, and is a place to come when attempting to find information difficult
to locate on the internet.
Q & A thread from the EXPOSURE\'s GUERILLA FILM-MAKERS FORUM Q & A thread from CFRSR (Colorado Front Range Sportbike Riders) board The final C --
Community -- allows for people of all backgrounds and interests to
discuss general ideas and opinions for the sake of discussion alone. Typically, these boards deal with the expression of opinions equal to that of many overall groups in a 'representative group' type format. These boards deal with the more social, philosophical and/or community related ideas which center around ethics,
politics, debate and other communique in the genre.
A thread discussing the issue of human cloning from CINCINNATI DEBATE SOCIETY A thread discussing agnosticism from THE TRUTH ACCORDING TO EVERYONE So with my extreme gratitude to Shatzy, I would like to place Hostboard in contention.
