Yep I have a very similar sized forum to Jonny and it eats 30-40GB's per month, which is madness and costs ££££££££.
Thankfully my server pings to 30ms in the UK and so it seems fast, but install UBB6 on a server that's average - good speed and not ULTRA FAST to Excellent and it's like a dog.
That goes for the last public v6.1 beta as well, it can't handle things once you hit 120+ forums ish and 3,000 to 4,000 members.
I love the idea of the compression system, although nobody has provided enough examples or explanation to test it on individual servers or explain how to get the library in on a host that's unresponsive. For some reason people assume you have ADMIN access to the root server itself, which I've never seen in my life.
Still that's life, just don't like paying £1,000 extra per year for UBB6's flaws. As soon as InfoPop realise that people use their forums for bigger sites then things should improve, I'm talking about ones far in excess of UBBDev and InfoPop itself.
Why not change forum software you ask? Well because UBB6 has more hack support and the rest aren't hackable enough, or show you what happens when there's TOO MANY FEATURES installed (yuk!). vB is too complex if you want new users to understand it, although its bandwidth saving is exceptional.
