In 1997 Gary Kasparov was beaten by Deep Blue, a chess playing IBM RS/6000. Since then IBM decided to discontinue the Deep Blue project.
Enter Deep Fritz; programmed by a group of computer and chess experts.
Since then Deep Fritz has beaten Deep Blue and Kasparov, and is now taking on World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik, who ended Kasparov's 15 year reign as world champion.
Fritz and Vlady have been dueling in what is called, "Brains in Bahrain" an 8 game match.
After a first game draw, Kramnik opened up the match with two straight wins. They drew again in game 4, but Fritz has fought back with two straight victories to even up the match, with two games remaining!
