Big news in the web design world and webstandards this past week was the launch of the new design for
wired news . It's been 2 years since their last design, and for those who've been around awhile, you'll recognize some of the bits and pieces of the old wired.com site we cut our teeth on in the mid-90's.
While they are more than a year behind us in the validation department, they took a small leap past us in getting rid of the table tags. No tables were used to make that layout, it's all div's and p's and css, and, it
validates . Updating their million dollar Vignette backend software by hand to remove the pieces causing the the bugs, you gotta applaud them for taking the cutting-edge step for such a high traffic site.
