Hello,

I just got a request from a user to increase the amount of characters for his (Brazilian :)) username...

I changed this in Register_lib.pl:
Code
code:

Is this all there is to it? Or did I overlook something somewhere?

Thanks in advance,

CT

Yes,

I overlooked something... That particular line of code exists in most cgi files. So I will edit them all.

However, is there another problem except for the MAXLENGHT ?

There might be a hack documented for this. Did you search the VS mod forum?

I need a hack to limit Usernames and Title Subjects too. And if possible all the fields in the profile. (Location, Interest,..etc)

I didnt find such hacks in the Database..

If you can't find a hack in the database you'll need to do it yourself. I'd say to limit Names or Increase them look in ubbmisc.cgi and for Subjects in postings.cgi.

Look around the V5 Mod forum. They sometimes have hacks there that weren't on the V5 database. wink I'll try find out the code.

It's quite simple really to add more or limit characters. All you have to do is check all the .cgi files for this line:

Code
code:

SIZE= is the size of the inputfield, you can leave that one alone.

MAXSIZE= says howmany characters the username can be, so you can alter the number.

This goes for all inputfields btw. Make sure you check all .cgi files and dont forget one. I just had the stupid problem someone registering a username longer than 30 characters but then he could not post anything because there was no field where he could enter his full username smile

I'd say check ubbmisc.cgi, register_lib.pl ubblibary.pl and ubblibary2.pl. They would be the most important to change.

If I only edited register_lib.pl, would I get bugs or a messed UBB?? ('cause if I edited register_lib.pl to a max. of 16 characters the other setting will hold more so no problem will occur) is this correct?
