Is there some sort of simple hack that allows me to add new fields such as AIM Name, Yahoo ID, favorite food, or anything else I can think of to people's profile? I know there are things like the Triple IM hack, but I dont want any new icons, I just want new fields in the profile. It seems like it would be a simple hack to do... I was able to get the new fields to be filled out by editing ubbmisc, but I don't know how to make it display in the person's profile.

Any hack that will do this?
I'd search the forum for a question like this, but for some reason it's only letting me search with one word, I can't use multiple words, so it turns up too many results that don't relate to what I'm looking for.

Just change the fields they use in there to what you want them to be.

For AIM, ICQ and Yahoo Messenger fields use the "Triple IM hack" In the V5 Database.

In ubb 6 you can add fields through the cp without a hack.

Yeah the Triple IM hack is a hard one, It conflicts with alot of hacks and lots of code too.

I have a question about the Add Extra Profile Fields hack mentioned above:

Where does $maxmemfields = 17; go in ubb_library.pl? It doesn't say, and that variable doesn't already exist in my ubb_library.pl. Thanks.

Also, looking at the instructions for this hack, I'm a little confused because it isn't written in the usual way, with "Find" certain text and then "Replace" or "Add" to it. It just lists code and doesn't say if it's supposed to replace other code or be added in addition to it. Maybe it will be self-explanatory when I start at it, but I thought that one of you gurus would be able to steer me in the right direction before I do something stupid.

Yep, in ubb_library.pl. You should already have a $maxmemfields statement...all the hack does is allows you to define more. If you don't see $maxmemfields then there is something amiss (I like that word!! ).

Something indeed is amiss then. I don't have any reference to maxmemfields in my ubb_library.pl!

Wonder how that happened. I don't think I installed a hack that would have overwritten that line. Or did I? Hmmm. I don't think so though, none of the hacks I installed should have deleted a line relating to user profiles. Running UBB 5.45a.

Since the line doesn't currently exist, can anyone tell me where it's supposed to be in ubb_library.pl? Maybe I can just kinda stick it in there and hope for the best.

maxmemfields corresponds to the number of lines in a members profile file. Any hack that deals with modifcation to the members file would have told you to increment this number by X.
Maybe you selected it and deleted it my mistake while doing another hack a while ago?

Thank you Lord Dexter and Bassteq. Everything else is there but that line, that's so weird. I must have either installed a hack somewhere along the way that called for doing away with that line, or else I just outright screwed up and deleted it improperly.

No Probs, Id say u accidently deleted it as there is no need for a hack to REMOVE that variable.
