Hi all--

I understand that the new 6.0 Beta 2 is due ot veeery soon. No sign of it on the Infopop site yet. Is this generally where they are listed? I only found the Public 1.x Beta there.

TIA--

I have noticed that the 6.1.0 Public Beta 1.4 shows a perl path of:

#!/usr/bin/perl

Say, for example - my perl path is:

#!/usr/local/bin/perl

Do I just have to modify the first line of code to reflect this path?

Is there another place in the cp.cgi and Ultimatebb.cgi to change this code?? Other files to be wary of?

TIA--

Yes, we only ship /usr/bin/perl copies of the scripts. If you're risky enough to be running a beta, you had better be able to change your own path to perl! smile

Only cp.cgi and ultimatebb.cgi need to be changed. There are other scripts (ubb_upgrade.cgi), but those do not need to be run during the 6.0->6.1 upgrade.

Why did I know this was going to happen???

I followed the upgrade instructions to the LETTER going from 6.05 to 6.1.0 Beta 2.0 and I get nada.

I changed the perl path on the 2 required files, I uploaded everything in ASCII, I did the appropriate CHMOD's and I uploaded the files to the proper folders.

The only thing that gets me is:

In the "variables" folder - there are no "wordlet" files to upload - HOWEVER there are "wordlets" files in the Templates folder... do these upload?

When I complete steps 1-6 and proceed to step 7, I get a 500 Server Error... I also get the same error when trying to run the ubb6_test.cgi file. I do get the proper scripts when I run the hello.cgi and hello.pl files.

Any ideas?? I am somewhere past frustrated closing in on just plain 'ole pi$$ed...

[/rant]

Thanks.

Try renaming the directory ubbcgi in the modules to 'UBBCGI'. This worked for me.

Raiyan - The file is already in that format - thanks.

MM - There is/was no ubb10_test.cgi file in the ZIP file... only the ubb6_test.cgi file. I went ahead and changed the path in the ubb_upgrade.cgi path - but I still can't access my cp.cgi
confused

Read the instructions again to find out what you should do with variables & wordlet files. It's not that hard...

What's being returned in the server error log?

Charles - I did exactly as the directions showed... there were NO "wordlets" file(s) in the "variables" folder... The only ones I saw were in the TEMPLATES folder - the directive was to upload ALL files in the TEMPLATES folder to the non-cgi folder - which I did.

I have no idea on how to get an error log... I'll work on that.

I just found out two things - One is that my web host does NOT provide error logs due to performance issues confused Whatever...

Secondly - My server does not allow a CHMOD of 777 in the cgi-bin directory...

The cgi-bin should NEVER!!!! be 777.

Files within yes, the directory itself no!

Let me double check the .zips. to see if the wordlet files are misplaced.

Picture perfect penmanship here.

As soon as I posted I remembered there are no new wordlet files in the upgrade .zip The new wordlets are contained in the ubb_upgrade file. Hit the update button and they are added. Changed wordlets can be viewed in the wodlet lists pulldown, under upgrade. There are two new vars files. Set them to the same permissions as your current vars_files. Since your board is currently working fine these will work also. smile

Thanks Navaho--

FWIW when I added all of the files to my server, I did the whole CHMOD thing then I changed the 2 new var_* files to match the other var_* files and I still had a problem...

Even the cp.cgi and the ubb6_test.cgi files were coming up 500 Error...

I have reverted back to my "old" 6.05 UBB for the time being.

There's just something goofy going on and I have no idea (nor does Allen) what to make of it... confused
