That's right topiland. I need no bug report. I take a ubb6.04e, installed my hack, transfer it to my webspace.Clear the Cache.Tested it. Okay.I stop caching.Clear the cache.Send one PM.Logoff.Login with new User and get the message
"Hallo test, You have 1 new PM [Logoff]"
So i think i can say "IT WORK'S with ubb6.04e"

E@sy,
The good news is that I got it to work thanks to that Variable change, maybe a good idea to update the Doc's just to avoid this confusion in the future for others.
Now Can I make a suggestion, when there's no new PM's can you have it say by default:
, You have 0 new PM(s)
Thus when you did have a PM it would show:
, You have 1 new PM(s)
I'd also swap , for a dash - since it looks nicer, but anybody can do that soo....

Yes I tried that code already before posting the message (sorry, forgot to say). You change the three instances, upload and then clear the cache.
However after that there was no default display of that line, just the login/logout bit as normal. An easy (cheat) way to do it is to display the line of text and then clear and replace it when there's a new PM. I'm not sure how to do this.
Could be a cache issue.

Oh, now I see why people are having problem. I fixed that a long time ago when I first installed ViewPMInfo1.1. All I had to do was to change "replace" in that loop to "replace2" 3 times, in the ubb_forum_summary.cgi

Only one problem with this hack for me. I cannot find what i'm looking for in my public_common.pl? I'm slightly confused. I'm using UBB 6.04d, btw.
