hmm.... I have to upgrade from 3.9Qa, made the changes in ubb_forum_summary.cgi and copied the ultimatebb_whos_online_install.cgi to my ubb cgi directory.
I chmod my UBB CGI directory, Templates and NonCGI as 777.
now i started the ..install.cgi and selected "install templates" (as mentioned in the upgrade.txt)
following output: Unpacking cp_vars_whos_online.pl ...Done Previous cp_vars_whos_online.pl backed up. Installing cp_vars_whos_online.pl ...Done.
Unpacking ubb_whos_online.cgi ...Done Previous ubb_whos_online.cgi backed up. Installing ubb_whos_online.cgi ...Done.
Unpacking cp_whos_online.cgi ...Done Previous cp_whos_online.cgi backed up. Installing cp_whos_online.cgi ...Done.
Previous version of Who's Online detected. Once this install is finish, plus update your Who's Online Variables to finish your upgrade.
Result: Install Complete. Thank you for installing/upgarding Who's Online! Head to your UBB's control panel to set your Who's Online Settings and to clear your cache to finalize your installation of Who's Online!
---- fine. after clearing the cache the ubb cp always reports the old version number and after taking a closer look to the three files: cp_vars_whos_online.pl ubb_whos_online.cgi cp_whos_online.cgi
they never have been changed by the install script ! the only thing the ...install.cgi has done on my server is to make an directory "WOLBackup" (with "public" username:(( and copied the three files there. great work, now I cannot delete the WOLBackup, because I am not the owner via FTP.
I now browsed the ...install.cgi for the sections replacing the code in the three files and replaced in manually.
hopefully, this is not an bug and my webservers is responsible for this... moreover, please include an manual install in the next version, it´s better for me to see who and what is changing.
thanks alex

Qasic,
I have Who's Online v3.8Qd (6.04e) because it works and if it ain't broke - don't break it. However I have a few Q's:
1) What's changed since v3.8Qd and v4 Gold (primary feature wise).
2) What areas need to be upgrade from v3.8d to v4?
3) If you include the output via SSI on your main page then will it do as the original did and log the readers on the external main HTML page as well? Hope so =).

Troy: Prolly a funked up webserver. But hey, it worked so no complaints alexg: Sorry for the problems you had. I don't know why it would do that. Probably because all your Templates should be 777 too?? I'm not too sure. Glad you got it to work though mark99: 1) Totally bugfixed. Option to reset recordbook. Recordbook totally fixed. Faster. Faster ... uhh .. Faster 2) Beyond Compare Readme.txt. Then run install_templates option. 3) yes technoforum.de: Will work but with a bit of code hacking but won't work out of the box (or you can ask me for a paid installation ) q

V4.0 works great for me, but I did do the upgrade from 3.9 instead of a fresh install.
And I even created the MHK file so it is done quickly.
That file should be added to the list of MHK files soon, if it is not already there.

Ugh....Quasic, I hate to ask this, but how much are you charging for installation on 6.0 Gold? I have so many hacks on it that I can't upgrade, nor will I ever. 6.0 works great for me...but I would really love to have your who's online hack...

i think qasics idea is a great one, although i see the flaw that someone can take someone elses url and prevent someone from registering.
what infopop really needs to do is database thier information so that there is a little input box anyone can use to insert a site/url to check to see if the site returns true as a valid site, or false as a invalid site.
or something like that. there really is no other way, unless there is a way for qasic, if he wanted to, to queue the registrations and review them to make sure that url matches supposed ubb owner. its so confusing. * dpk smashes head into wall *

1. centralize all this, ubbdev maybe. register, gets enqueed, staff here review it, approve/deny, get a free key. 2. use that key to download scripts from other ubb mod sites which use a script provided that uses sockets or something to grab a data file from a central local which scans and checks to see if the key matchs one in the database that is approved. 3. maybe i'm just rambling again.
i really think qasic has a good idea, it just needs some fine tuning.

Hi folks,
After so many complaints I finally checked the script and guess what, the user who had warezed my copy of Who's Online also left a nice gift ... he edit a url to gimp up my UBB address verification system.
Needless to say, the bug is fixed now and all should be fine. Thank you for your patience as I sorted all this out. All your PMs you sent me will be replied to.

quasic I understand what you are doing but you shall have to find a better way or simply accept the fact that there is no way hacks can be kept to licensed holder only. This is why we insist loudly that hacks do not include copywritten Infopop code.
Picture perfect penmanship here.

Ok Nav.
I'll kill all messages like that then. I've got a few ideas of authenticating using Infopop's servers without using you. Thanks for the notice now. I'll edit my previous messages to reflect this policy.

Ok... Um, well i have a REAL technical problem here. The install templates worked perfectly, but when i pushed the install button it said this.
Creating Backup Directory (/home/ivegeta/public_html/forum/ubbcgi/WOLBackup) ...Successful!
Backing up ultimatebb.cgi ...Successful! Hacking ultimatebb.cgi ... 0 : 0 Found ... Hacked ... 1 : 1 Found ... Hacked ... 2 : 2 Found ... Hacked ... 3 : 3 Found ... Hacked ... 4 : Error on this line. You will have to manually hack this hack. Sorry!
If i knew which line, i would do this.

You shouldn't click on "Install" in an upgrade, and you shouldn't click on "Intall Templates" in a full install...
Load the backups, and choose either that or that.

Well, shoot. The upgrade instructions said to redo ubb_forum_summary.cgi then upload the install script. Well, i saw the problem. The instructions said ONLY to click 'install templates'. Alright, guess i need to go back to english class, eh?
Everything seems to be working alright anyway. So i better not touch anything. Thanks anyway lk

My "Record Book" keeps resetting itself. It was 94 yesterday and now it's 84. Is there a way I can make it keep the record for weeks at a time?

qasic-upgraded and all work well! Thanks for this wonderful hack!
By the way, the hack is compatible with Show Member,Guest,Invisible Count Hack that I made. Look in the beta forum and it will tell you how to upgrade from 3,9 to 4.0
