Change newsfader's width to 400 or something like that in the CP.

Looks like you got the newsfader fixed, you might wanna increase the colspan for your stats by one.

It's ok I got it working easy now , but my UBB Thinking Clock then Disappeared , the table it's meant to be in is there but not the actual Clock. BTW if you want a text file wrote for this hack I think I could do it if you wanted.

I also found that it removed my PM Inbox and my Hypercells . So I am guessing it's messed up Public_forum_summary.pl in some way

I'm guessing that you hacked on an old back-up public_forum_summary.pl

Many people have requested the .txt file and nobody else seems to have obliged. This is a zip file, containing all the files you need and a .txt file that has been extracted from the Multihack (so if it is hard to follow, don't blame me!!!) http://www.liberifatali.com/umbrella/ubbhacks/newsfader621.zip Thanks, Oblivion Knight

Everything looks fine... in the control panel... but nothing is showing up on my board when I turn the fader on... I DO have Thinking Clock installed... and that is still there (I did the adjustment to put fader at the top of my page where the clock is)... I went to make the adjustment to fader.js for Thinking Clock... but... (and here's the embarassing part)... how do I open fader.js???... notepad seriously screws it up!... what program do I use? ... and is the fact that I can't make this adjustment to Thinking Clock the reason that my fader is not showing on my board? ... HELP!!!! ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/icons/icon24.gif)

If the whole newsfader line doesn't show up, it's your fault. If it only doesn't show the news, unhack ubb_forum_summary.cgi and hack fader.js by the instructions. I used Notepad, but if you can't, you can try to use cal's noted .

Hmmm. I know everyone is going to laugh, but Netscape 6 doesn't work with this hack. Anyone have any ideas? Oh and just another note, Compuserve 7.0 is using Netscape 6 as it's browser now... so I imagine that AOL won't be far behind...
Any help would be appreciated...
thanks, Jake

....doesn't work... I end up with neither a fader or a clock... any clues?

So, anyone have a "fix" for our Netscape users? I've gone and told mine to just use IE... unfortunately they don't like that fix. I would have mentioned the problem sooner, but I just found out about it a couple days ago, when member said, "News Fader? What? Where? There's nothing there!" Hehe I had to install 6.2 Netscape to test myself. Maybe 5-10% of my board users use Netscape or Mozilla... But, I don't want to leave anyone out. Thanks! ~Z

any way to put the output of the Newsfader in a seperate table like a sidebar ? Installing a sidebar seems to be simple (found a other thread who describe tihs) but I m not able to move the output of the fader from main table top to the seperate sidebar.
If this can be done would it be possible that the news will displayed all the time and not only while watching the main menus ? This would help to force player to read the text and i can use longer delay times.
Next problem: is there any kind fix out there to display the Newsfader output under Opera ? Opera have a problem with Java-script and supres the text/ ignore the Javascript.
Regards Zarzal

Well I've managed to "shoehorn" the fader into 6.3 beta and I'm using JC's templates but have managed to create 2 small problems . . 1. Cannot pick up stats (not really significant) 2. For some reason I cannot show graemlins and when I (quickly) right click the placeholder, the path shown is http://xxxxx.com/cgi-bin/graemlins/toast.gif when in reality they live in the standard location (/ubb/graemlins) and work fine everywhere else on the board. I can only assume the problem is something to do with JC's templates being in ubb/Templates/JCTemplates. I can't find any specific reference to graemlin path anywhere other than to the NonCGIURL in forum_summary.cgi What else am I missing?? - Thanks.

it seems that greamlins will searched in /cgi-bin/greamlins instead of /nocgi/greamlins
I use newsfader621.zip for hacking because for the 622 is no zip avaible and I do hacks manual every time. maybe this is in 622 fixed.
Can anyone tell me who fix this ? Thanks.
