Ok it installs by multi with no errors. Problem is when you goto the forum settings and turn upload feature to on, submit change. Goto forum, it still states uploading not allowed in that forum. So I go back in CP look at forum settings and what is happening is the radio button for on/off is not taking. Niether on or off are selected. No matter how many times I pick an option, it doesnt take.

thanks goes out to Allen for this.

I got MH to finally work, but I am also seeing the 'not sticking' behavior.

Allen, I think that there is a reason for $RESERVED :rolleyes: wink

I can't really tell what's wrong, but I suggest you to move $in{upload} AFTER $RESERVED|^|, and change [18] everywhere to [19]...

I'm gonna make a Mod CP Addon version for it, do you mind if I post it Allen?

Fine with me smile

I tended to think it may be conflicting with reserved as well, but hadn't stopped to install it yet - we'll use the mod_cp version for the db upgrade.

Mine worked until I tweaked the custom titles. The vars_misc.cgi get corrupt somehow... Maybe that will help the developers fix it...

Sounds like permission problems on your upload folder.

I think i have an answer to one of the problems.

If your using the LK version of this hack, the control panel section updates the vars_modifications.cgi file with the save to location BUT the upload.cgi code reads the save to location from the vars_misc.cgi.

I had this hack installed on my old 6.1.05 ubb so the vars_misc.cgi locations were carried over and i get an invalid folder error but if you havnt installed this before there will be no locations stored and I have no idea what error it will give...

Also theres a 5 on the end of the #!/usr/bin/perl line, on my ubb it wont do anything unless i remove it.

Anyway hope this helps (if i am right that is)

Forgot to ask, which is the best way to fix it, edit the mod or edit the upload.cgi?

You should add a new directory, chmod to 777 and put it in Misc Settings, as your upload dir. (or Modification Settings)

This is really getting frustrating. This is the error that my server is reporting to me.

[Fri May 31 21:07:33 2002] [error] [client ------------] Premature end of script headers: /home/dragon/public_html/cgi-bin/ubb_upload.cgi
[Fri May 31 21:07:33 2002] [error] (2)No such file or directory: exec of /home/dragon/public_html/cgi-bin/ubb_upload.cgi failed

any idea what is going on? I have everything set the way that it is supposed to be. I have rehacked it 20 times now with LK's newly updated files and still get this error......

Gosh, "premature end of headers" is making me nightmares wink
But... make sure ubb_upload.cgi is uploaded to your UBB's cgi-bin directory; make sure it's chmodded to 755; make sure that "vars_config.cgi" is also in that directory, if not, change ubb_upload.cgi line 23 to its place; make sure vars_modifications.cgi is chmodded to 777; make sure you CHANGED modification settings and used a CORRECT path for uploads, a directory that already exists and that is chmodded to 777; no more ideas smirk

can u do this ?

if u select in cp "save by membername or no." the script save the "image.gif" as "member.gif" - and at the next time the user overwrite the image.

can u insert radiobuttons in the upload form, so user can select "save ths image as no 1 or 2 or ... 10." so the scrpit save the image.gif as "member_02.gif" or "mebmer_10.gif" ...

hope u understand smile

and if u do this - do in cp a function there u can select the max. upload images ...

Ok here's my problem, I have added and chmoded an upload folder, I used the latest mhp file. ANd I get this on the upload screen

The file size limit is bytes

file formats allowed:
extenisons
you cant upload any file formats that are not listed here

Notice there is no limit set, and no extensions listed, etc.

I have defined them in the modification settings. I have also chmoded the upload_x files in the cgi-bin to 755.

when I try to upload a file anyway it gives me

Illegal File Format (extension)
You can not upload this file format dragonmotorsports.txt
please upload a different file or Do not upload at all.

(edit) I got the line above to work. I was putting .txt, .jpg, etc instead of just txt, and jpg. But now I got this: upload_file_name_dontworry
right under the box that gives you the ling. Kind annoying if you ask me. Where do I get rid of that.

you can see my board in the link in my sig. thanks.

edit: also it seems as though the window sizing/placement option in the settings does not work either. I am using IE 6.

edit, also someone I think meantioned this, but if a file with the same extension gets uploaded by the same member it overwrites the existing file. Is there a way to use this with using the members name/number like dragonmotorsports_1.txt, and dragonmotorsports_2.txt, etc?

All you guys asking for "non-multihack" formats. This should be obvious but there is an easy answer to your problem - install multihack.

Then all you need to do is load the hack into it, click on edit, and all the text is there to do the hack manually if you desire.

Cheers

Hi,
I have a couple of little problems with this hack if anyone can help.
Firstly in the control panel I only have an option under 'forums' to activate it, nothing else to configure it, I've looked in 'misc' but there is nothing in there.
Secondly, there is no option on the post form to actualy attach anything.
I see that quite a few people are having problems with this-has anyone got it work yet??
Would doing the hack manualy instead of using multihack have any effect??

Help appreciated

Mors

Finally got this working with 6.3! laugh
To get it to work I did the following:
-Re-installed my board from scratch.
-Upgraded the wordlet mods.
-Upgraded the CP mods.
-Installed the hack manualy from the text file in LK's zip file. ( LK upload zip )
-Turned on the upload option in the forum settings.
-Configured the path/file size etc in the 'modification settings' under the 'primary settings' drop-down

And tadaaaa, it works!!

Thanks to Ely_M for this hack laugh

at this point i'd pay someone to help me... i normally dont have trouble installing hacks/modifications but time is of the essence on this one. if you think you can help me out, pm me and i'll send you all the details so you can have a look-see.

I have no vars_modifications.cgi - I think this is my problem because the hack doesn´t work yet.

I think it is becauese I did not install the Mod Wordlets 1.5 - but I don´t know where to get them...

Could anyone sent them to [email protected] ?

No, this are the wordlets - vars_wordlets_mods.cgi - I got that one...

I think it´s because this hack requires

"UBB 6.3 and Mod Wordlets 1.5" as shown on the first page.

http://dpk.b000.net/

That is the link for Mod Wordlets 1.5, but I can´t find it there.

That is my problem : I installed the hack with Multihack and corrected the errors myself (there were problems because I use the german version), then I uploaded all, CHMOD the new files 755, then I went in my forum details and chose "yes" for upload, cleared the cache - but nothing changed, there is no field where I can upload...

Question: Does LK's zip work with 6.3.1?

Also, if not, is someone working on a 6.3.1 version of this hack? My boss wants me to implement it on one of our message boards but I can't get the multihack to work.

I get the following error when trying to upload a file:

Quote
quote:
Bad Directory
The directory you specified:

$vars_modifications{SAVE_DIRECTORY} = "";

is invalid. This problem is caused by one of the three following reasons:

The directory doesn't exist. Make sure that this directory is a complete path name, not a URL or something similar. It should look similar to /home/username/public_html/uploads

The directory isn't writable. Make sure that this directory is writable by all users. At your UNIX command prompt, type chmod 777

The directory you specified isn't really a directory. Make sure that this is indeed a directory and not a file.

GO in your control panel and correct the path to the uploads
Both the DIR and URL paths are correct, the directory has been CHmodded to 777..

Any ideas..?

Hi,

I need this damn hack for my UBB version 6.1.0.3
All links to this hack in the other categories are down. Can someone here who maybe has the right older version of this hack email it to me?

Thanks in advance

Upload works great for 6.3.1.1... However, I have the modaddon6.3 installed also and inside it, there is an option for uploads to upload by Random Filename, Username in filename, and Member Number. This is a problem due to the fact that the files that are being uploaded as are going to be put into a database. How can I fix this to retain the actual filename that is being uploaded?

Thanks eek

Has anybody figured out why the radio box won't stay checked? Looks like this is a common problem that everybody is facing.

I followed the advice of each and every post. I'm running 6.3.1.1.

Update: I can get it to work perfectly on one forum at a time only. Files upload no problem.

As soon as I edit another forum's properties, the previous forum loses its uploadability.

This should be an easy fix, and sounds likes it's a common problem that never got resolved... or resolution got abandoned for the next rev. Well, not everybody has 6.10.10.10 loaded.

If anybody knows how to fix the issue of radio buttons not sticking on multiple forums, please, please let me know.

Hey Dino smile

Did you use the mhp version of this? It worked well if I remember right. Let me know.

Hey Allen!

Nah. I'm still a little old-school, and opted for LK's zip file. Plus it wouldn't have worked 100%, since the mhp file was looking for CSS'ed code with "id" in it. Mine doesn't have that. It's CSS'ed by no "id". I'm trying to add this upload hack to version 6.3.1.1.

The mhp files were helpful for the CSS'd pages.

However, I did figure out a work-around for this issue that I'm having. For me, I don't need the selectivity to turn uploading on or off on different forums. Personally, I think it's a waste of code, since the files are going to one location anyway. Plus, if someone had access to upload in one forum, he could still upload by popping open the file upload form from another forum, and still post to a different forum that doesn't allowed uploads. Am I talking in circles.

Like I was saying, on my forums, file uploading is OK on ALL my forums. So, I went into the mod wordlets and changed the wordlet "upload_not_allowed" from "Uploading not allowed in this forum" to:

[code][/code]There's more than one way to skin a cat! Works fine now, even though I wish I got this to work right the first time, without the work-around.

Ok I got Question! I installed it onto 6.3.0 and it seems to be fine, no problems;

All the way to "uploading" but here's the problem, when I click the upload button and have already chosen the file to upload, it gives me an internal error 500, what can I do? what am I missing. I'm sure its been asked before, but i must'a' missed it

COOL EXTRA HACK

I hated only being able to name the file a random number (if you name it username or # that user can only upload 1 file cuz it keep renaming every new file the same name)
==========
find in ubb_upload.cgi
=========
Code
 if (($vars_modifications{elym_upload_filename_q} eq 'random_name') || ($ubber[0] eq '')) {
$tempname = time;
} elsif ($vars_modifications{elym_upload_filename_q} eq 'username_name') {
$tempname = $ubber[0];
} else {
$tempname = $ubber[4];
}
============
add after
===========
Code
$time = time;
$newtempname = join '',$tempname,$time;
now select either 'username' or 'usernumber' in control panel
I like this because when you look at the directory where you put those upload you can see which files are from which users and how many.
otherwise its just random numbers

Somewhere in ubb_upload.cgi, check to see if $user_name and $password exist; if they don't, they're unregistered. smile Send them off to the "Not logged in" Wordlet via StandardHTML to remind them, though.

Untested, but it's not too hard to get working smile

hows this:
Quote
quote:
#check for password...
if (($username eq '') && ($topic_restrict ne 'all') && ($vars_display{RequireLoginPosts} eq "YES")) {
&StandardHTML(qq!$vars_wordlets_err{not_logged_in}

$vars_wordlets{not_logged_in}!);
}
but where does it go? i tried a few places and it would bring me to login page even though I WAS logged in
???

Wait a minute... At the very top of ubb_upload_form.cgi, the following code exists:

Code
if ($username eq '') {
&StandardHTML(qq!$vars_wordlets_err{not_logged_in}

<A HREF="$vars_config{CGIURL}/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=login">$vars_wordlets{login_now}</A> $vars_wordlets{or} <a href="$vars_config{CGIURL}/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=agree">$vars_wordlets{register_title}</a>!);
}
That should stop unregistered users in their tracks. I don't understand how that doesn't work on your UBB, unless you've been modifying the contents of $username after it's been set or something...

i see that, all I modified was the filename portion in ubb_upload.cgi that I mentioned above.
I have the correct radio button "dont allowed...unregistered"

Is it only my UBB that has this problem?

umm, only in one forum and only for replies, not new thread. But I changed that to require logging to post and the upload hack still uploads for guests...
but I put the above code in upp_upload.cgi
and it prevented uploading however it prevented uploading even while logged in too...so I am thinking I dont have the code in the right spot or the wrong code....????

well i added a stand alone button to the forum that opens the upload window.
So where do I need to place 'that' code to prevent that window from displaying the upload box??

Would anyone please help me with this?
I keep getting a "Bad Directory
The directory you specified:

$vars_misc{SAVE_DIRECTORY} = "";

is invalid" error.
If you contact me on PM, I'll send the admin loggin because I think there is something wrong with pointing to the correct directories, but I have no idea what I should add there.

Hi,

I used Multihack on a clean board install 6.3.1.1 and had err's in
cp_forums.cgi
cp_edit_forum.pl
cp_forum_add.pl

All others were fine. I just had to manually edit these and it works fine.

Thanks

Yeah but in what file do I have to enter it?
I entered the correct directory in the CP and the text above is the error message I get when trying to upload.

once you enter it through the CP, it makes the changes to the file, so theres no need to edit a file.

Dont forget to be using an absolute path for this field DIR path to the uploads folder

and a relative path for this field URL path to the uploads folder:

I had everything working great then had to transfer my files onto a new server, which was identical with RedHat 9 as the one it was on. I transfered all my files and reset all my permissions, but I keep getting the 500 error "premature end of script in ubb_upload.cgi.

Looking in my httpd error logs for this I find:

Can't locate CGI/Carp.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 .) at /home/rnc/cgi-bin/ubb_upload.cgi line 11.

Any ideas?
