I was attempting to edit a user account file specifically the # of posts that user had actually made. The file I edited was ../member/00000048.cgi I changed it from 0 to 1 Then I uploaded the file in ascii to the correct dir and checked to see if the post count had been changed. When I tried to look up the member by member # I got this message
"Hack attempt logged or corrupt/altered member file found with extra fields."
Bad me to be sure. Then I tried to update the member files using the maitenance features and got the same message. Now I don't know what to do to fix it.
I am using UBB 6.3
Also I noticed while checking the memberlist.cgi file that not only was that account missing but several other accounts as well. So I did a view all member search and brought up the other missing account to make sure they could still be used and they seem to be fine...they just don't show up in the memberlist.cgi file
So what do I do or am I just SOL?
Be good to you, Garaelb

sounds like you hit "enter" or something when editing the member file..., go back and make sure there aren't any extra spaces in that file.
