I would really like to have a newsletter driven by UBB. An excellent example of what I am shooting for can be seen at this link.

What I like the best about this page is the fact that it show only one featured article at once and the table on the right with other headlines that link to their stories.

I asked the owner of the site/company how this was done and he told me that he "customized a few pearl scripts for UBB". Is this the only or easiest way to do this? How can I get something similar for my site.

It seems that is similar to the news script for v5 UBB's. Check the modification forum for the v5 series, it should be there or in the database.

Unfortunately no.. tho there are a couple news scripts out there that do something similar. Check the beta forums for whic ever version you are running.
