I have a full member who cannot close/delete his own topic. The "Misc Settings" is configured to allow this and the forum has nothing to prohibit it. The error received is "Only admins/mods are permitted to perform this..."; however, there is nothing in the configuration that I can find, to prevent a full member from doing this.

I have tried clearing cookie information from the user, posting several times to ensure member promotion was affected, so on, and so on...

Any ideas? help

Only administrators and moderators may close, delete, or move topics.

k.

Am I to understand that the "Miscellaneous Settings", "Message Edit Options" parameter refers to something else?

and I thought I was doing pretty good with this... frown

Thanx for quick response...

When you choose that he can delete his message in misc settings, he has to go to Edit Post page and click on "Delete", not from this page's bottom buttons.

OOO OOO OOO, my first hack! I'm so 'cited...

Since the forum I was interested in was a Classifieds section for my users, I wanted them to have the ability to close the topic and have it marked as "Sold".

I hacked ubb_topic_maint.cgi and added the following code;

Within the sub, at the point where you check for admin/mod status, I added a check to see which forum I was in. If it was not the Classifieds forum, I ran the routine. It seems to work OK and has not had any affect on the security in other forums. It only allows the user to click the "Close" button at the bottom of the topic, not the "Delete" button; however, the topic owner can still edit and delete.
