Yes indeed - the same goes for moderators, as we recently found out, we had someone on our forums who kept sending PM's to just about everyone especially moderators who were online, they got so tired of having to deal with dozens of PMs from him every day that I had to implement my bozo hack so they would
a) be invisible to the bozo
and
b) be getting no PMs from the bozo
and some prefer to be invisible to everyone for the exact reason Eileen just mentioned, so they can browse the boards without being "bothered" by someone sending a PM saying something meaningful like "Hi, I just saw you online..."
So, the invisible feature is an important tool for privacy.
By the way... the incident with that person began about 4 weeks ago... I have my boards set up to delete PMs after 30 days to reduce the database size, would you believe that the Cron Daemon sent me this last night: "A total of 87 private messages were deleted from the database." This used to be 0-15 on the average... so being invisible is not just a matter of privacy and to reduce unnecessary PMs, it's also useful to cut down on server load []/testimages/icons/wink.gif[/]
