b) if the new username already exists, the script will merge the usernames.
All the settings from the old username will be kept - except for the total posts number, which will reflect the correct totals. The title doesn't get reset though, so you may need to modify it manually.
PMs sent and received, address book entries, moderators, subscriptions, read receipts etc etc are all handled and reflect the new username.
Max hasn't posted in a couple months, so I'm asking you, Allen. This hack didn't work for me with 6b5, so I reworked it until it did work. Should it go in the "V6 Beta Modifications" instead of here? (It really could use having someone go through it to make sure it's all right.) It does work though, as far as I could tell. (It should still be posted as Max's hack though, I only changed a few lines.)
One question: A situation I run into occasionally is that someone will have registered two usernames, and have posts under both of them. Does this hack allow merging of all the posts into one of the usernames? From the description, it sounds like it does this, but I wasn't sure.
