Hi

I'm about to upgrade to 6.2 from 6.1.1 threads and I'm asking you because you have already done this.

I must be thick or the ones at ubbthreads can't write thier instructions properly, we newbies cant read minds.

I have seen this question before but it never got answered.

From the UPGRADING.html file it reads....

[]NOTE:[:"red"]You never need to overwrite your config.inc.php, theme.inc.php or main.inc.php files with the new ones [/] . Once you have run all of the altertables you can go into the admin section and bring up the config and theme editors. Any new variables that have been added will be highlighted in a different color depending on your stylesheet settings. Running the config editor will also update your version [/]

[] [:"red"]Upload all files, [/] this includes several new files in the images directory. Once new files are in place you can bring up altertable-6.1-6.2.php in your browser to upgrade your database. [/]

These files are included with the upgrade and do have changes in them well, mostly the config.

Q1. Do we or don't we upload OVERWRITE these 3 file or not.(did you overwrite)?

So if I do overwrite this is what I will do, please tell me where I go wrong.

Firstly I tried to backup my MySql but received this for all the tables w3t_thename.sql [:"red"]is 0 bytes or did not get created.
[/]

Ok forget the backup....

1. I upload ALL files to the UBBTHREADS directory OVERWRITING ALL files.

2. Run the altertable file.

3. Go into the admin section and bring up the config and theme editors.

If I overwite these files will I have to put in the name of the board for instance which I know the config.php changes if overwritten or does it pick this up from somewhere else?

4. Another seperate Q --- I may loose my dbase so is there a way to find out my the members passwords as they are just dots right now. (maybe you could PM me for this part.

I can't do the upgrade until someone answers the post - so please help me as I wish to do this now before I get PhotoPost put up on Friday 3rd.

Thanks in advance

Thanks

When upgrading:
You never need to overwrite your config.inc.php, theme.inc.php or main.inc.php files with the new ones .

The docs probably need some work

You don't have to overwirte the files Allen mentiones above.

All files except images should be in ascii - images should be in binary. Not sure what that warning is related to - but I have found that on the odd occasion, I have had errors, but dropping the FTP & re-connecting did the trick on the upload.
