I would like to promote some users. To be exactly, those who send anual donations to the forum.
My ideia was adding a flag next to the user name, in the same way we have "A"=administrator or "M"=moderator I would like something like "D"=donor ??!!
I read this thread : https://ubbdev.com/threads/php/...ew=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
but it looks like I have to change many files, in many places. I was just wondering if there is any simple way to add a flag, or make the name apear in another color (also like moderator) or any other way to promote one expecific user.
I can mannually add it to her/his name.
Any ideias?
Elton

When you edit a users profile from the admin screen you can change the color of their username.

JoshPet made a cool hack that adds flags to specified user groups.

Take a look

OK. Changing the color name is a good thing.
Thank you for that tip
Now, would I will be pushing if I ask to display a BOLD username?
THere is any way I can do it? Simple, not changing UBB templates?

I saw that but I think that's too hard to implement, and them will came a UBB update and you have to to everyting again. I'm not sympatetic with this kind of double work.
If I can find something simple, will be better.

There's not really a way to make the names bold without editing the templates where user names appear. You'd have to add <b> and </b> before and after the user name variables in the templates.

Actually... now that I think about it.... in 6.2 usernames are already bold in showflat and showthreaded view.

No, that would require about the same amount of changes as the User Group Flag hack I'm afraid.

I don't know when we'll see it... but I heard that we might see usernames colors and such moved the the stylesheet. Then a change to admin/mod colors and user colors (as well as bold etc...) should be easy to apply.

Keep your fingers crossed for 6.3.

Don't know if it's on the list, but I know the admin and mod colors are a problem in some stylesheets.

Yeah, that would be really nice. It's a problem with adding it to individual users or groups through the stylesheet though. Can't really think of a good way to do that myself.

I think Rick suggested that it might be done with different classes. You can assign certain users a "color class". Then you have to add those classes into the CSS.

You can put whatever class in a user's profile, and thereby have as many classes as you wish. So it could be flexible. But adding classes is more complicated than just changing the color in the admin panel.

Those are ideas that have flown around. All just talk at this point. But it seems to make sense.

Moving user colors to the .css file is the best solution and with some luck Rick will be able to work it into 6.3

As many have pointed out, the hard coded colors don't always look so great with the various stylesheets that can be selected. Moving this all into the .css files solves this problem.
