Just add extra "U_Extra#" fields to the to w3t_Users and make some changes to the config.php file. It might not even be necessary to change the editbasic.php file or the showprofile.php files. or JoshPet's birthday hack would show you the exact steps to add extra profile fields. I suggest using Nikos's mod as it will be easier for you to follow as the entire hack is about adding extra profile fields.
