I have been searching, but so far havent found what I am asking here...

Is there currently a hack to put it back the way it use to be? To allow users to simply check a box when they reply that will email posts in that thread to them?

Without all the add to favorites stuff? Some users are pretty new and going through all these extra steps seems un-necessary really.

Not curently..... the old way was pretty un-flexible. There was never a way to stop receiving the emails - so the admin ended up getting lots of bounces... and it confused people as it only sent them an email in reply to their post (not the thread)... alot of newbie users just use the last reply button.

this looks like a major disadvantage to me.

email replies was a great feature!

the drawbacks that you mention are not that big.
people are self-centered, and want to know immediatly when somebody replies to a post they have made!

the problem with the newbie users can easily be solved by just adding some information in the email, telling newbies not to reply via email (newbies as newbies read such stuff).
although replying via email would really be some kind of killerfeature!

so I am asking desperatly to re-introduce the reply-to-my-post one way or the other!!

ps: please excuse my long location-entry

Well if you knew your long location entry messed up the whole page for everyone.... why did you leave it.

I don't understand what you are saying.... people can still get email replies to posts that they have made. The added functionality is that they also can get email replies to any post they want..... and they can stop getting email replies from a post anytime.

Under the old way there was no way to stop.... so if they requested it once, they were doomed to eternity to get the email replies.

thanx for explanations regarding favorite threads via email.
i have to think this over again.

sorry for the long location entry.
made an entry in the test-forum and somehow mixed things up again.
as a conclusion: the problem is reserved to mozilla-browsers, they don't wrap long lines. ie does wrap long lines.

thanx for fixing my profile and not banning me

LOL

Well after this I saw your other post sort of showing it as an example. I think a check will be added in 6.4.
