Hmmmmm ... this situation reminds me that I should rig up a "back door" into threads in case I ever need to hack into my own board.

No the admin completely closed FTP, telnet and noone has the privileges for the administration area/control panel. What I think we're going to do is use a screen scraper like HTTrack or another offline browsers and at least have an "archive" of the threads and perhaps add it to a site search engine. Then start again from scratch. The 2 parties can not come to an agreement on term$ and the admin want$ a ton of dough to even give access to begin the move. And it's too expensive to pursue legal action but who knows and that's not my area nor business--my task is to come up w/ a way to at least salvage what's there...
