[30-Oct-2003] PHP 5.0.0 Beta 2 has been released. This is the first feature complete version of PHP 5, and we recommend for PHP users to try it. PHP 5 is still not ready for production use! Couple days late, but still news

It's still without MySQL support, so it's not very useful for ubb.threads owners.
Hopefully, they'll work out a new licencse in the next months.

Hello
How about performance wise ? I believe PHP 5.0 is using a new Zend engine right? How much different or changes that need to be done to the current coding -- i think this is very important too (backward compatability).

Yes, PHP 5 has a new revision to Zend. It is not a "major" revision per se, because I think anything that is compatible with current versions of PHP 4 will continue to work in 5, but if you want to use the newest features, backwards compatibility may be stifled..

PHP 5 Release Candidate 1 Released! "The move from Beta stage to RC stage means that PHP 5 is now feature complete, and is quite stable - stable enough for everyone to start playing with.
