Here is my dilemma (ok, more of just a question).

I have www.domain.com/forums/ that works great - the forums are zippy and the masses sing their praises.

There are a few members that cannot reach them due to their corporate firewalls blocking them, BUT - once upon a time when I ran the forums under a sub-domain, they could reach them just fine. IE - forums.domain.com/ works just fine.

Now this works great if I have the php pages in TWO separate directories (ie my config file has to be specific to the sub-domain setup).

Is there a way to get ONE folder to display URLs in both regular domain.com/forums AND forums.domain.com formats?

Thanks....longshot and not sure if I am being clear (new child, zombie mode)...

Could you possibly do something with a re-direct script that would forward them from forum.domain.com to domain.com?

Aye, I tackled that one, but once they hit the main domain, the corporate firewall kicks in.

Wracking my brain on this one...not sure there is a fix besides an idea of making TWO config.inc.php files and coding a script that states if the URL is "aaa" then use this config...else use that config.

Bit of a pain for a few people who would rather browse than work

1) Specify the new subdomain path as being one level above your threads folder, and then you'll be able to connect to it via...

http://forums.domain.com/forums/

and

http://www.domain.com/forums/

...at the same time.

2) You would also need to change all instances of...

http://www.domain.com

to

http://forums.domain.com

...in cong.inc.php and pals/configpal.php (if IIP is installed)

This would mean that the corporate users would obviously have to use the subdomain URL from now on to connect though, and not the one being used presently.

The regular users however shouldn't be affected by any of this.
