I'll freely admit it, I just bought PHP and MYSQL for Dummies. I could no longer take it. You guys kill me with all this bs and I want to know what the hell you're talking about, and more importantly, doing to my sites!

Next up is learning all those damned ones and zeroes you peckers tease me with .

So go ahead and laugh. LAUGH I SAY!

But one day you'll be sorry!

(either that or I'll still be asking you guys for help every five minutes.)

I'd put money on the latter but I'm going to give it a shot. I know you guys will help me so thanks in advance for that.

I think the signature is fun.

I also would like to suggest PHP and MYSQL Web Developement as a good starter book. It's published by Sams. It makes you work with globals on but once you adapt to them being off it's quite easy.

Picture perfect penmanship here.

Thanks for the suggestion. There were only two books (at Hastings) and that may have been one of them. It was called PHP and MYSQL fast and easy 2nd edition. Looked like a good book but my wife was threatening my life if I spent too much. It was only like 5 dollars more, but nevertheless, that stupid DUMMIES crap being pounded into my head on an almost weekly basis over the years overwhelmed me and I finally caved into them.

I bought that book...and I'm still on chapter....1! Then again trying to learn PHP and MySQL at the same time I'm learning Linux is tough. One had to take a back seat to the other.

O'Reilly books are generally pretty good. Although some of them are more geared toward experienced programmers.

Peachpit does some decent learning books as well.

Although, I am hardly one to be offering any endorsements. After all my programming skills are legendarily sucky.

Mine are delightfully tacky, yet unrefined.
