Which browser or browsers does everybody use? Currently, I am running IE 6. I used to swear by Netscape Navigator but it kind of died. I am thinking I need a new browser, or at least another browser. I am wondering what everybody else is running and what you think of your browser. Postives and negatives of your browser. That sort of thing.

Thanks for any input.

I have left IE for Mozilla's Firebird. You can find it here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/

As far as I'm concerned it is a better browser than IE.

At work, IE 6, cuz that's what they make me use

At home, Safari, and sometimes Camino. I like the look and feel of Safari better (especially after they added tabbed browsing). The only reason I occassionally use Camino is when certain pages don't work in Safari. Javascript probs etc.

Mainly at home I use Safari, and once-in-a-while I'll use Camino. At work I switch back-n-forth between Mozilla and IE6.

I'm using Mozilla 1.3 at the moment but am planning on switching to Firebird when I feel that it is mature enough. But seeming as this mozilla version crashes every now and then I might switch quite soon. At least I've downloaded Firebird and will test it as soon as I get the time... I also keep a copy of Navigator 4.7 and Opera 7 for good measure. =]

I'd use Firebird if it would support the mozilla sidebars. Having the quick references for html, css, xhtml, xslt as a sidebar is a good timesaver.

Is firebird running smoothly? Does it ever crash or is it missing some important functions?

I know have Firebird version 0.6. It is nice. I like the optional pluggins. The first time I opened it, it took me to its default home page which asked me to download Mozilla 1.4. I didn't realize this were different at first. I thought it was just the latest build. I like the feel of the Firebird. I might stick with it.

AvantBrowser has popup blocking and tabbed browsing. It just ins't multiplatform.

It uses the Mozilla Engine for rendering the webpages, they are almost identical.
You can even use most of the mozilla plugins in Firebird too.
The Preferences Dialog is a bit more limited than the Mozilla one. If you want to have full control, you can install a extension that allows you to set every detail you want.
The extension i love most is the web developer extension.

As is said, Firebird doesn't have a sidebar and you'll miss the newsgroup, mail and calendar from the mozilla suite if you're used to them.

No, I only use the browser in my browser, that's one of the reasons why I've wanted to move for ages. I don't like program suites, one program should do one thing, that's what I've always said. What I want to know is if it has all the snazzy features of mozilla, like everything on the Tools menu, Image/Popup/Cookie blocking, type ahead find, form manager, and all the other nice things about Mozilla that I just can't remember at the moment. =]

Well, that wasn't too important, it's just nice not to have to use the mouse all the time.

And it's stable? Seems that I should move to Firebird straight away then. =]

My impression is that it's a bit more stable than mozilla. Maybe because the code isn't that bloated.

Sounds very reasonable. There's much that can go wrong with Mozilla.
