Local father on journey to support troops

At the beginning of this month a Cohoes (near Albany, New York) man set out for the ride of his life. Dan Forant is pedaling across country to raise money and awareness for the soldiers overseas, including his son.

Forant is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He called Capital News 9 with an update on his trip.

He said, "America has been great. Patriots, ex-service members, current service members, Vietnam vets -- it's just been phenomenal. We've met generals, we've met a senator, it's unbelievable, it's overwhelming for a normal guy."

He's taking historic Route 66 and will be in Arcadia, Oklahoma tonight.

I've got a nephew that spent most of last year over there as recon for the marines and another who's getting ready to go, thank you for sharing that
