FFRonin -- Nice job. Looks like a nice hack...maybe this board could install it, and use it as a reminder to search and check the database first.

Sorry, but 9 times out of 10 this is the problem. Always try more than twice before seeking the help of others.

MasterMind, Cal is right, most of the time problems with installing the hack are just typos or something that was missed. It's difficult to be more helpful. One thing I have found VERY useful, however, is to download Perl on your local computer. You can get ActivePerl ( http://www.activestate.com/ ) for Windows platforms. Then to debug a script, just type in "perl Ultimate.cgi" and it will give you the line number that has a syntax error. This makes it easier to find out where things went wrong [Linked Image]

Hope this helps.

It's easy, just download and install activeperl and then you can run .pl and .cgi files from the DOS prompt.

If that was in response to me FFRonin, then you are missing the point. ActivePerl lets you execute the script on your machine, not edit it. Anyway, you should use notepad, not wordpad.

Ahh - I use Win2k notepad (with hotkeys) or a modified version on NTNotepad. Doesn't having to select "Save As Text" bother you?

That explains it! You can't open large (>64k) files or run a serach and repleace on those versions.

It renders wordpad obsolete, except for converting carriage return sequences properly (from both MAc and UNIX).

No offence, but I HATE "all in one" programs. I like to use a seperate text editor, file comparison progran and FTP program. That way, the elements can be far more powerful than any single program could ever be.

Nice thought cal. I use CuteHTML, which is NOT a "all in one" editor. Because i use a seperate FTP prog as well.

I still use WS-FTP for most of my file transfers, but as fas as an editer goes... Ultra edit does the job just fine.

I use Notepad for editing. If I need to do formatted editing then I use Dreamweaver for HTML and Visual Studio for source code. I use Leech FTP , which everyone should use, cause it's fantastic and free.
