There seems to be some errors when you try to install this hack in UBB 5.45. Looks like it needs to be checked.

Yes please tell me how. I am going to install it on the board. I also need instructions on how to install the Y! Mess Hack and AIM Hack for 5.45. If I see more hacks this way I think I may open up a new fourm [Linked Image].

I really like this hack.

Two things though.

1) If you use this hack the hack that states who closed the thread no longer works.

2) How would you apply this to when someone moves a thread?

To make it compatible with "Thread Closed By ________ ":

Look for

Replace it with

I tested it a bit, and it SHOULD work, but if it doesn't, please tell me!

Hope this was helpful!

Alex:

Nope still says "Thread closed by " when you use the option to post a message. If you use the close thread link though it will say who closed it.

Odd, cause it DEFINITELY works for me...

Here's an example: A thread on my BB (you'll just have to take my word for it that it was closed with the checkbox!)

Idea:

In postings.cgi, try replacing

Code
code:

with

Code
code:

as well as doing the above

Hope this helped!

Alex, your first solution works fine for me and it seems to make sense.

OK, I want to intall this but:
1: has the original post been updated to reflect all the changes that have been brought up, including the "thread closed by" problem?

Not since I used this code, Chad, and that was hours ago. You can't account for every hack out there when you write hacks like this, but all you have to do is use the fix above I referenced in my previous post and you'll be all set!

Check it out - I'm using both on my board:

Hello,

Is there any way to make this so that the thread, after it is replied to and closed, not appear at the top of forumdisplay.cgi, but stay in the same position?

Like it does when you close a thread without a reply.

I am trying to use this hack with 5.45c (using mazmanr's update for 5.45).

After closing the thread and going back to the forum view, the thread that I've closed totally disappears off of the list.

Has anyone got this working on 5.45c, and if so, can you share please?

thanks,

janitz

I have the same question as covana

What is the first file you need to edit. It says if you have the other hack that tells who closed to modify posting.cgi, but does not tell you which file to edit without that hack installed.

It's been a long time since I installed this but if it isn't postings.cgi I guess ubb_library2.pl
