Maybe try deleting some PM's from the "private" folder in your FTP.

There are limits as to how many PM's a user can have and I THINK if a person goes over that limit this error can occur. Whenever I've seen it, I would delete the "extra" PM's or have asked my users to do the same and it seemed to correct the problem. I never deleted via FTP though...

Try setting the configured auto-delete and auto-delete warning limits to much higher values. At least that will tell you if it is related this aspect of the PMs.

Do you get this error when sending a PM to any user or just some users?
Check your servers error_log for a more detailed description, also try using the carp module in perl to display a proper error to the browser insted of the internal server error message.

Let us know how you go.

He meant check the error log so you can see where the error is coming from.

You will have to ask your web host where the error_log is stored, and if its viewable to you.

Also what I said about perl, simply add this line use CGI::Carp('fatalsToBrowser');
around the start of the cgi script thats giving you the errors.

Yes put it after the Perl path at the top.
