Here's a list of hacks that I think will fit in nicely with the new PM system:

-Add ability to compose a New Private message right in the PM area of "my profile." I don't want to have to go find a member's post just so I can PM them. I want to be able to type in their username.

-Give the PM feature it's own page, separate from "my profile"

-Add ability to view sent messages (note: I've received word from Ted that this is already in the works)

-Add notification of new PMs on the main page (better yet make notification appear on that bar at the top of every page, right next to your username). Example:

I have no skills with which to implement this concept, and am not even sure the concept would work. But, if I was trying to keep the benefits of the cache and still get dynamic content to the user (such as # of pms, or who's online) I would probably use javascript.

I would have a simple little script that checked the # of pms somebody had, and then update that number on the local copy of their page.

Well, I would do that if I had the time to sit down and figure out what it is I need to do exactly. Having spent the last few years writing embedded military software, web development is still rather new to me.

I already did that, but I'm holding off, coz Charles did it first. He's waiting til UBB6 goes out of beta before releasing, because as we all saw with the 7.4 beta, the cache mechanisms keep changing.
