Sice upgrading to UBB 5, my users (at nwtekno.org) have been complaining about the loss of the ability to search by member name. Now I understand that this change is related to the ability of people to change their memeber names, but it seems like it would still be possible.

A hack to search by member name should be pretty simple (convert member name to member number, then send it off to the standard search), but a trickier and more useful solution would be a hack to search by member name and get all of the posts by that user, even when they were using different public names. A public-name history isn't recorded anywhere in UBB6 as far as I know, so that would have to be added as well.

But really, just a search by name would be great.

I have a hack working on my test board that allows searching by display name, basically returning the original feature and eliminating the need for displaying the rather impersonal "Member #" at all. I just have a couple small bugs to work out of it and I'll post the install docs.

The member number is going to cause issues on my board, with people with lower ones acting like they're cooler than people with higher ones. It's tough running a board made up of mostly high school kids!
