Why don't modify the "flare upload" so you can upload an avatar directly from the CP instead of get the link and then copy it into the avatar profile field in the profile?

Version 1 won't be released because it is not secure enough, IMO, to work for most people. It's secure here on UBBDev because we can compile our own modules here. Most people can't. (This is the same reason that file uploading is never going into the 6-series... I just don't trust myself to write code secure enough without using compiled modules.)

Version 2 won't be released because it uses code that I am not permitted to release. (I.e. code I did not write and has a restrictive license.)

Am I wrong or the "Upload File Form" link is only present in the quick reply box and NOT in the "full reply" page???

so that means that an upload feature will work only on some version of perl with some modules compiled?
and using php? I mean..we got accelerator for forum with php enabled (almost)..why don't use it for uploading?

Mmm...probably because it's better to keep UBB based on perl, not 50% on perl and 50% on php.

Charles, do you think one day we could see a version of UBB running without perl (PHP)?

PHP sucks. PHP5 sucks less. But it's still PHP, so it still sucks.

Charles, what about giving us code you did write, and then giving us the link to where we can get the code you didn't write.. and then a hint as to how to implement the two?

I know that's a lot of work and if you don't want to do it I'd understand.. but if you could do that, then some people who want to use it and want to take the time to make it work on their site could use it..

just a thought.. I don't need this feature for my site.. just a recommendation for those who do.

There is no other source for the licensed code... The API it implements is not available for public consumption at this time...

C# is nice, especially as it and Perl can call each other. But asp.net sucks right now because there's no stable third party implementation...

I have Whidbey and Framework 2.0 running and it's pretty damn slick. I'm running Yukon too (the new SQL) and it's whole new OO world at M$. Longhorn (of course) is turning out to be really exciting, especially with a fast machine that can render DX9 video and audio.

I'll get off my soapbox now, it really is some fun new technology though.

I'm pretty sure they removed it when they built in quick reply. I can't seem to find it
