Your board really isn't that great at all. The color scheme is terrible, no offense, and all the Flash elements just make the design worse. I mean, if you're going to use that many unneeded graphics, at least color coordinate them, eh?

I like your navigation at the top... pretty cool. You do need a good bit more "cohesion" in your color scheme tho... it seems to be all over the place.

Yeah, plus you have message icons that are far too wide and spoil the whole look. As Matt and Allen said, there is very little co-ordination there.

Thanks for the feedback. I have made some changes and now maybe the color scheme is all fittin now.

Your color scheme is still awful, IMHO. Blue, red, black, orange, grey... if you threw in a little yellow and green you'd have a regular rainbow.

The flash nav at the top is a nice touch, but it's way too big. There's too much blank space and all the fonts are unnecessarily big. And it freezes my computer for a few seconds every time I switch over to the window.

And the thing that bugs me on a lot of sites: some of your tables are one width, some are another width. Pick a width and stay there!

The flash nav is still the most annoying part of the site, and far too big. It's not practical to use, that's all there is to it.

The colors need some huge work still, like Skorp said, there's just way too many in there. Keep it to only 3 colors, or 4 at max. I also agree about the table width; they really add an ugly touch to it.

One last color thing... You can't read the text on your gradient bars AT ALL. Black on dark does not flow for me. Work on these things and keep showing us what you've done!

You know I dont see what your talking about with the table width. It is all the same everywhere I go. If there is one out of line I dont see it and it would be a mistake not intensional. Also remember this is not a business site, Its a gaming site and gamers like colors. I am open to suggestions but ya drknight is right you could say something positive. I mean I looked at your site Matt Jacob, looks pretty phucky, plain, basic and looks like everyone elses to me. Try something new now what has already been done, thats boring


By the way Drkfire I like your forum. It has creativity unlike most. Different is always good. Most people just dont like change, as they feel left behind. Flash is new technology and most wish they had a clue how to do it.

the tables they are talking about wnxwakko are your top couple of tables (welcome and who's online) and the bottom couple of tables (affiliates and stuff below)... they are much narrower than your actual ubb tables.

Your color scheme would look a lot better too if you stuck with the black, blue and white, and left out the orange and red.. or even went with red and not orange... and the posting icons are too big to fit in with the rest...

nice start tho... I still think the navigation up top is cool.... a little big tho...

Alright, I look at this on my machine now, which is probably about doubly better than the ones at school. And I will now give it a "nice try". But it really does need some refinement.

The table width thing I said was a problem with the resolution, apparently. On my box at home it looks fine now. So sorry about that one. (But look at what the tables look like on 800x600, I think it was, and you'll see what I mean.)

I stand by my (and several other people's) complaint about the colors. I'm a big gamer myself and I don't like them. Yeah, I like a little color every once in awhile. But you don't need to have a kids cereal aisle on your site.

And my big beef with the flash is actually two things... First, it's too big, bulky, and contains way too much unnecessary blank space as I and others mentioned above. But the other problem is this: the big huge flash animation, the DHTML news fader, and those colossal animated .gif posting icons, make for a REALLY slow site. It's slow to load, slow to scroll, and it generally does bad things to my computer as far as speed goes. There is a fine line between "enough cool stuff to make a site look good" and "way too much cool stuff that actually makes the site look bad." I'm sorry to say that IMHO, your site is on the latter side of that argument. If you picked one or two elements and made them very well integrated into the site, it might look good. But as it is, it looks to me like you said "wow this looks cool" and threw a ton of stuff in for no apparent reason other than to have more cool stuff than anyone else out there. Sorry, but that really detracts from the site.

EDIT: And I apologize if I seem unnecessarily harsh. But those are my opinions. I think your comment about Matt's site was pretty rude, but it's your opinion and you're perfectly entitled to it. You asked for our opinions, and we're giving them to ya. ---§

I do thank everyone for thier opinions and I did ask for them. Many of them were excellent suggestions, I just would have thought those that were 100% negative could have said at least one thing I did right.
