ubb6 doesn't scramble the profile fields, it just adds new ones... so your script may delete the extra ones ubb6 adds, but ubb6 should just update the member files the next time the user signs on... it sounds like fox still has not run the deletehacklines script if it is showing avatars for public names....

Make backups of your member files and run the script, then upload them to your members directory. Running the "update member post histories" after uploading the member files may or may not be needed...

O_O *faints*

i was browsing thru some ubb6 questions topics, and i felt really dumb, sorry Charles! (the real CC by the way [Linked Image] ).

Allen, the delete script is set to update the member files on the server, no need for uploading them again after running, just backuping them for security reasons.

Once I heard some hacks may use extra thread fields too, i couldnt find hacks that do that.

Theres some known issues (never thought in using this expression), with running the scripts under a Win 32 server, which happened with Speed, that couldnt find the file Ultbb.setup. If this is the case, theres some configuration in your Win 32 Perl that says that all file includes (the ones included with "require" command) are to be taken from a default library directory, i think. In any case however, this can be fixed putting the full ubb cgi path (found inside ultbb.setup) before ultbb.setup name in this line: require "UltBB.setup";

i didnt upgrade my board yet. go figure..

edit: btw i should have read the mapping of the profile lines..

I got UBB 5.47 with plenty of hacks installed
(avatars etc). My UBB is on a Win2000 Server
and I wanna upgrade to UBB6, I've made a backup
on all of my files. Do I need to make an upgrade
to UBB5.47e first?
Could someone please explain how I can
upgrade my board to UBB6.04a and solve the
problem with extra lines in the members files?

This thread feels a littel messy for me and my english wink

just run the deletehacklines.pl file found on page 2 here... then install v6.. should have no problems. We have used it on several sites...

always make backups.

FYI, if you are uncomfortable doing the job yourself, Infopop now has a similar script (that does the job without the overhead of the existing script...)

hmmm.. haven't found that rebuildmems6.cgi removes any profile fields, it just checks for corrupt member files and removes the whole file to a /corrupt folder smile

Bumping for mb, the deletehacklines.pl script is in the middle of page 2 and should work well on 5.39
