They closed because the site was completely dead, and it was pointless to keep it open.

Actually, we haven't totally shut down, just ceased operations.

The "something big" could not continue due to an implementation and a legal issue. We could have gone around the legal issue, but we wouldn't have made many friends in the process.

UBBHackers WILL reopen, but it's just not clear when or in what form.
