I was wondering, With all the GREAT hacks people make on this site, does Infopop ever put any of them into the offical Code? If they don't they should.

Like the "Last Reply By" hack.. Why WOULDNT you put that in?

I just think they should put some of these cool hacks into there versions. laugh

The actual hack code almost NEVER gets included - it's almost always re-implemented....

CC will attest, as can mark, that lots of things that were "hacks" at one time have been included in the base code.

multi-pages
instant smilies
instant ubb code
pm's
registration flood control wink

quite a few others, tho they do get re-written before being added...

What we are seeing is the first iteration of the next generation of the software, stuff like pm's will improve.. anybody remember how buggy and feature-poor cympm 1.0 was? smile

It's so nice when I'm remembered for what I do. :p

Don't worry CultMaster, we've all done that once or twice.

Yes, losts and lots of contributed hacks have made it, though not as submitted.

I contributed the UBB closed message to Michael Farris when he was doing the UBB. Even though I work for Infopop he still rewrote it.

The whole Members search page in a 5.47 and up versions came from an idea that Charles posted in regards to something completely different. This was before he came to work for us. I liked what I saw and with his permission, used it as the basis for reworking that whole area.

Can we for get "Graemlins?"

And yes, much to my continued embarassment I found out the hard way that this DPK is the same DPK that did the control panel menu. Sorry again DPK. frown

As you look through the code you will always find the contributor's name, except where the person was an employee or asked not to be noted.
