It is very likely that Motorola will be exiting the cell phone market soon. Just something you might want to consider.

?? What makes you say that? The StarTac is pretty successful among certain crowds. I love mine...

The only think that strikes my mind is Motorola V110. Not V120. So I haven't seen it.

Motorola's last two quarterly reports have been hinting this is coming. Sure the phones sell well, they just don't sell as well as some of the other manufactures now and the big issue at hand is the cost of manufacturing and the low markup on them for Motorola. Motorola has a long history of being the first or one of the first large manufacturers to produce almost every new consumer electronic device and then suddenly leaving that market after 5-10 years since they feel that the market has been saturated with product. Just to name a few they did this with was: AM radios, TVs, CBs, VCRs, and personal communication radios. Next is cell phones.

I saw it on TV. The manager of Sales and Marketing was on Dotto's Data Cafe here in BC presenting it. It's OK I guess but I'm waiting for those Bluetooth-enabled phones.

Obviously you haven't heard of a company called Nextel? Motorola makes phones for them. I doubt that they will be exiting the cell phone market anytime soon.

Hmmmm... interesting. Well, I suppose the market has become saturated. It seems like every redneck with a shirt pocket has a little Nokia nowadays, and people are always buying those covers for them... bah. I wonder who it was that originally said, "let's make these phones a method of personal expression" and started making those blasted covers. Those tend to irk me, but then, so do iMacs.
