Welcome, friend! smile Before we can give you any help, we need to know the following information:
  • What type of server you're running
  • What the problem appears to be
  • Any error messages you have received
  • What version of UBB you are trying to install

Can you answer these questions please?
Also, not ANYTHING should be CHMODded to 755, the variables and some other parts should be 777.

Well, that still didn't really answer my questions, but I'll try and help anyway.

First off, you have a .zip file that you (should have) downloaded from the UBB Members Area at Infopop.com. Extract it to a temp directory on your local hard drive, because we'll be needing it shortly.

Now, open up your FTP client. Since I don't have a clue as to what program you're using, I'll try to make these instructions as basic as possible. If you're in need of a good FTP program, I recommend you download WS_FTP LE . It's free and full of features.

The fun begins. smile I should mention that you'll need to know the path to Perl on your server. If you're unsure of the Perl path, please check with your ISP. As per the included instructions in your .zip file, change the first line of several files accordingly to reflect the Perl path on your server. I really can't stress enough the fact that you absolutely need to know the absolute path to Perl.

Then, upload your files according to my diagram below.
/cgi-bin/Members/ CHMOD 777 folder & files
/cgi-bin/*.cgi CHMOD 755 folder & files
/cgi-bin/variables files CHMOD 777
/ubb/ CHMOD doesn't matter, 777 if you like

To perform a CHMOD in your FTP program, you can usually accomplish this by right-clicking the file and selecting 'CHMOD' from the menu.

Last, enter the URL to your control panel in a browser and then follow the instructions given. I hope I'm not wrong on this step, I've been away from the UBB™ for a while... smile
